VAE delivered a specialised HVAC solution tailored to the building’s mixed-use learning and research spaces, including custom-designed external flues and laboratory fume cupboard exhaust systems to ensure safe and efficient air handling across each floor.
The project featured a fully integrated Building Management System (BMS) to control newly installed mechanical services, enhancing building performance, energy efficiency, and environmental comfort for students, staff, and researchers.
As the flagship of JCU’s Innovation Hub, the four-storey, 9,400m² facility was purpose-built to encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration—with VAE’s mechanical systems playing a vital role in supporting high-performance teaching and research environments, including specialist engineering and IT labs
