Today marks Mental Health First Aid Day 2025 – a timely reminder that safety isn’t just about physical wellbeing, but also about looking after our mental health.
At VAE, mental health is a core part of our Safety focus. We know that life can present challenges both at work and outside of it, which is why we’ve invested in building strong support networks across our business. We’re proud to share that we now have more than 35 qualified Mental Health First Aiders available across our teams. These trained individuals are ready to listen, provide support, and connect their colleagues with professional resources whenever it’s needed.
In addition to our Mental Health First Aiders we partner with Drake Wellbeing, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, to give employees and their families access to professional and confidential support. Through Drake Wellbeing, our team can access a wide range of services including counselling, coaching, and wellbeing resources designed to help manage stress, mental health challenges, financial pressures, and personal or family matters. This partnership ensures that every member of the VAE family has the tools and support they need to thrive both at work and in life.
By prioritising mental health alongside physical safety, we’re continuing to foster a culture where our people feel supported, valued, and empowered to thrive. Today, and every day, we encourage our teams to check in with one another, lean on our support networks, and remember that reaching out is a sign of strength.
