The Project

The project is the largest redevelopment in the hospitals 108-year history and saw the opening of the first Private Emergency Centre within Ipswich and West Moreton.
John Holland Group were awarded the $45M contract to refurbish key areas within Ramsay Health Care’s St. Andrew’s Hospital located in Ipswich, Queensland.A new Intensive Care Unit supporting the Emergency Centre was constructed with 81 new private patient rooms built, increasing the capacity of the hospital from 97 to 178 beds. A major focus for the redevelopment was to Maternity and paediatric services to cater for the predicted population growth to occur within the region by 2031. A new Maternity Unit will provide young families with quality local obstetric and paediatric services which will be supported by three new labour delivery suites. Rehabilitation services for the region were enhanced with the redesign facilitating a 21 bed Rehabilitation Unit with an accompanying gymnasium. VAE were contracted by John Holland Group for provision of the Mechanical Services including the addition of three new air-cooled chillers, serving nine air handling units and 99 chilled water fan coil units.
