The Project

St. Benedict’s Catholic School opened in January 2018 in the Townsville suburb of Shaw.
VAE where contracted by Jackson Semler a local Townsville based builder to provide air condition to the new Administration Building, General Learning Buildings (Blocks A, B and H) and the Multi-purpose (MPA) Building. The project is designed as a 5-Star Green Star Design and As-Built rating. The Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is based on air cooled chilled water plant located in each General Learning Building serving air handling units, with Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes for air distribution. The Administration also has its own air-cooled chiller serving ceiling cassette units and a preconditioning unit. Control of the HVAC plant is by a centralised Building Management System (BMS).
