The Project

The Fortitude Music Hall (FMH) opened its doors on Friday 26 July 2019 with a celebration of Queensland music.
Australia’s largest ballroom/theatre styled venue, with a 3,000-person standing capacity and an 1,100 seated capacity. FMH is the first dedicated music performance space of its size in Central Brisbane since the closure of the famous Festival Hall in 2003. VAE Group are privileged to have been a part of the construction of this iconic Brisbane music venue, completing the mechanical services for the project. Chillers, cooling tower and Air Handling Units (AHU) were refurbished and re-used with an additional new Variant Refrigerant Flow (VRF) plant added for spot cooling foyers and bars. All new air distribution, smoke exhausts, controls and mechanical/electrical equipment was installed throughout the building. The new venue is the result of a partnership between Scott Hutchinson (Hutchinson Builders), John Collins (‘JC’ from Powderfinger), and Paul Piticco (best known for his work on Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival).
