Waikeria Prison is set in a 1200 hectare site near Te Awamutu in the Waikato. It is one of the country’s largest prisons.

Located near Te Awamutu, Waikeria is one of the most future-focused prison sites in New Zealand. With a major redevelopment underway, including a purpose-built mental health and addiction facility.
